Real Estate Broker Requirements
In order to become a Real Estate Broker you must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, attend at least [XXX-ASHLIE?] of the 30 class sessions, complete 90 hours of classroom instruction, and pass the 3 required exams with a total score of at least 225 out of 300 points. To learn more about our Pre-Licensing classes visit our Classes page.
Indiana Law provides that all residents of the state (and some non-residents) have the opportunity to earn an Indiana Real Estate license provided they have a high school education or a General Education Diploma and have successfully completed other educational and testing requirements.
An exception to this rule exists dealing with individuals convicted of crimes that might have a bearing on that individual’s ability to be fair, safe, and honest with members of the public.
If an applicant has a previous felony conviction, and especially if that individual is currently on probation for that offense, the Troyer Real Estate School encourages the applicant to contact the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency for counsel prior to enrolling in a pre-licensing class.
NOTE: Due to the law being unclear, anyone who is not a US citizen should confirm with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to see if their current status meets the requirements at 317-234-3022 or email them at pla10@pla.in.gov.
The Broker Course - 90 Hours
You are required to take a 90-hour online or in-person pre-licensing course before you are eligible to take the state real estate exam. The Troyer Real Estate School offers comprehensive 90-hour in-person classes, which covers everything on the state exam, plus hard-won knowledge that only comes from years of experience for $660. With 17+ years of experience as an instructor of real estate pre-license classes, Joel Buzzard offers a unique in-person class experience where he not only prepares you to pass the state exam, but also provides a look at the ethics necessary to positively impact your career.
Retakes
We are proud of our class graduation rates. Most students pass our class. Students who do not pass the live course have 1 year to retake the class for $100 off the price on the website. Retakes are on a stand by basis to students paying full tuition.

Continuing Education
As a real estate broker, you will have to complete 12 hours of continuing education each year. You will also have a renewal fee you will have to pay every 3 years. Managing Broker Requirements
In order to hold your own license and/or start your own company, you must have a “Managing Broker Eligible” license. These are the following requirements:
Hold a real estate broker license for at least 2 years.

Once qualified, you can apply to the Commission (317-234-3022) for the eligibility. There is no fee to apply for the managing broker eligibility. Troyer Real Estate School does not currently offer managing broker courses.
NOTE: All brokers are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education per year. If you have the Managing Broker Eligible designation on your license (and are independent or managing your own company), 4 of the 12 hours must be dedicated to the necessary business of management skills and legal knowledge needed by a managing broker.
